Custom Screen Graphics for Film: iOS, Android, macOS, Windows

Every screen in shot — phones, tablets, laptops, broadcast wall, CCTV monitor, ATM panel, hospital terminal — is its own production design problem. FilmKode designs the graphics, builds them interactive, locks them to the right era, and runs them on the day.

Why “custom” matters

Stock screen content lasts about three seconds on camera before it falls apart. The cursor doesn't move, the wrong app icon is in the dock, the year is wrong, the iOS chrome is from last week instead of 2008, the font kerning is off. Modern audiences clock all of this whether they realise it or not. Custom graphics, built to the production's era and to the scene's narrative beat, survive any close-up.

Platforms we build for

  • iOS — every major version from iPhone OS 1 through iOS 18, including era-correct lock screen, status bar, and app chrome
  • Android — Stock, Samsung One UI, Pixel, era-accurate back to Gingerbread
  • macOS — full desktop interactions, dock, menu bar, browser tabs, terminal sessions
  • Windows — Win XP through Win 11, complete with start menu behaviour, system pop-ups, and lock screens
  • BlackBerry, classic Nokia, Palm Treo — period drama specialists
  • Bespoke embedded UIs — ATM screens, hospital terminals, airport check-in kiosks, military command panels, sci-fi HUDs
  • Broadcast graphics — TV station rundowns, news tickers, sports broadcast overlays

How we work with departments

We sit between the production designer, the prop master, the script supervisor, and the editor. Designs route through your art department for sign-off; clearance routes through your legal/E&O team. We deliver design, build, and operate the on-set rig under one banner so there's no hand-off gap between “who made this look right” and “who makes it work today”.

Selected work

  • Departure (2019)
  • Scoop (2024)
  • The Marlow Murder Club (2024)
  • Code of Silence (2025)
  • This England (2022)
  • Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025)

Frequently asked questions

Do you handle clearance and legal sign-off on the screen content?
We don't do clearance ourselves — that's your production legal / E&O team's call. We provide every asset in editable form so your clearance team can review names, logos, and trademarks before camera day.
What's your turnaround on screen design?
A single hero screen: 2-5 days. A full app or a desktop OS environment with multiple windows: 1-3 weeks. Multi-platform builds (e.g. character has iOS + their work laptop has Windows + their CCTV at home is bespoke): 3-6 weeks comfortable.
Can you replicate a real-world brand visually without naming it?
Yes. The vast majority of “custom screen graphics” work is brand-adjacent design — visually familiar enough that the audience reads the genre instantly, distinct enough to avoid trademark and clearance issues. Your art department + clearance team approve the final look.
Do you do period drama?
Extensively. We maintain a library of era-correct OS skins, web browsers, web pages, and device chrome going back to the early 2000s. We can also build forward-looking UIs for sci-fi or near-future productions.
Is the screen content live or pre-rendered video?
Live, almost always. Pre-rendered video collapses the moment the director wants a tweak between takes. Live screens give the floor the ability to adjust content on the fly, react to the actor's performance, and run multiple takes without re-rendering.
